Tufts Alumni Return to Teach
(continued from page 1)

Emily (Durand) Woodward's class entitled The Supreme Court in American Life filled quickly with students who wanted to know how the court works, how it decides on which cases to hear and, knowing the make-up of the Court, what decisions might come down this term. In the fall she taught an equally successful course on Intellectual Property. Emily (J'96) is an attorney in the Boston area specializing in intellectual property.  She holds a JD from Northeastern School of Law.

Ming Chow is offering a course this semester called Introduction to Game Development. The members of the class will learn how to create a computer game from start to finish. The elements of game development comprise computer graphics, artificial intelligence, data structuring and networking.  Some members of the class come from the engineering school and are receiving Engineering credit for more advanced work, while those from liberal arts are learning real-world skills that include design teamwork, management and documentation. All will be involved in hands-on work developing two working games, one in 2D and one in 3D. Ming (E'02) is currently a software developer and webmaster in the greater Boston Area. In addition to his undergraduate degree he holds a Masters in Computer Science from Tufts.

Michael Simon recently returned to the Boston area and quickly applied to teach a course in the Experimental College entitled, Internet Law and You. This course addresses how technology and the law intersect. The class explores the implications that arise, not just on the theoretical level, but on the ground level where students live, play and work every day. Copyrights, trademarks, and other private rights in property that can limit free speech are also part of the syllabus. Michael Simon (A'89) is the technology counsel for Stratify, a firm in the rapidly growing area of electronic discovery, and a former trial lawyer with extensive experience in litigation and labor law in Chicago. Additionally, he was the general editor of "The Internet, Law and Business" which was published by the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
